Leading an empowering online community for married women

I founded and run an online community that gives married women a non-judgemental space to share, network and speak up. I set its voice and rules, curated online and offline events and built a support system for the members

At a glance

Role: Founder and community lead
Audience: Married women
Team: 3 moderators
Size: 14000 members as of October 2026
Running since: 2016
Focus: Community building and management, moderation, awareness campaigns, welfare activities, audience research
Result: A community that readily supports married women for their lifestyle and personal challenges

The challenge
Women needed a place to talk openly about the challenges of marriage, find opportunities through networking, and voice their opinions without being judged. No such space existed for them.

What I did

  • Created and built the online community exclusively for married women
  • Set the community’s voice and tone through clear rules, so members felt safe and respected
  • Built a management structure with moderators and volunteers. We have a yearly activity calendar with clear role division
  • Ran social media campaigns for awareness, including “motherhood is a choice” and “inspire inclusion”
  • Planned and carried out welfare activities for women’s empowerment
  • Used social listening to understand how members think and behave, and shared the insights in community study papers

The result

  • A community of 14000 members
  • moderators and volunteers who keep it running
  • Awarded men for their contribution to breaking gender biases as a measure of the outcome of my community work
  • Countless campaigns and activities benefited women in personal transformation

What I learned about leading
Leading this community taught me that the best leaders serve the people they lead. I was a member of the community myself, not someone watching from outside, so I understood what members needed, what worried them and what made them feel safe. That closeness helped me make better decisions and earn their trust. As a result, this group stands as my immediate family and supporting me unconditionally in times of crisis and emergencies.
